Ethanol Plants Coming
BloggingThe Cincinnati Post updates us on the five ethanol plants under construction around Ohio, reminding us that it has been an odd and interesting situation that Ohio has yet to make a big splash into ethanol production. I say odd and interesting given the huge amount of ethanol Ohio utilizes in a given year – we are huge consumers of the product, but of course have been importing the fuel, frustrating corn producers for several years. That is not to say that the Mike Wagner’s and Dwayne Siekman’s (Past and Present Executive Directors of the Ohio Corn Growers Association) of the world haven’t been working diligently to encourage the industry’s development over the years. There have been a variety of reasons behind the late blooming, but all indications are that nearly 400 million gallons will be in production by this time next year.
